Lino Cutting with Clare Melinsky

MAKLab Dumfries
10am - 4pm (inc. breaks)
Saturday 26th November 2016

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

Design and print a custom card, piece of original art or pattern in time for Christmas!

This workshop will give an introduction to lino cutting techniques and printing using single and multi colours. You will learn to print and gain practical experience of the tools and materials used for printing linocuts with and without a press.

There will be demonstrations followed by practical application and experimentation with the techniques. You will receive regular feedback from Clare throughout the workshop, as and when appropriate, and she will be on hand to answer any questions.

Clare Melinsky is a local Artist and Illustrator. Her lino-cuts in colour and black and white follow the style of traditional woodcuts. Over the last thirty years her illustrations have been used in advertising, for labels and packaging, and in editorial work for books, magazines and newspapers.

Our workshops are designed to give you the skills to continue making prints independently and to inspire you to try new techniques.

Basic tools, materials, tea, coffee and biscuits are provided! During the workshop you'll use 'Easy Cut Lino' - which is easier for beginners to use than traditional linoleum.

Please bring visual source material, ie: sketchbooks, drawings, photos, postcards as reference.
