Meet the MAKLab team.
Bruce NewlandsFounder & Director
Founder of the MAKLab, is a Director of Skirmishes Limited the body which will run the MAKLab. Bruce is an experienced architect; lecturer and researcher with his own Glasgow based practice. He has taught in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Northumbria. Bruce is also a fellow of (RSA) The Royal Society for the Arts ad Manufacturing.
Richard CliffordStudio Director
Responsible for running the MAKLab, the educational aspects as well as the promotion and development of MAKLab. He has worked with prestigious architects in Glasgow and is regular visiting tutor at Strathclyde University and other creative organisations throughout Scotland. He has delivered many innovative creative workshops, and is involved with the design and development of many exciting projects being produced at MAKLab.
Stuart MilneTechnical Director
Overseeing the technical development and operation of MAKLab. Stuart has worked for a number of architectural practices in Scotland, as has a thorough technical knowledge in a range of fields. Until he joined MAKLab he ran his own successful Laser Cutting business called Modelaser. Stuart’s range of practical experience and skills are a vital part of enabling the MAKLab to deliver support to businesses and individuals.
Matthew PatonTechnical Assistant
Technical Assistant, responsible for the production of work, training of members and involvement with workshops. Matthew studied architecture and has since joined the team to utilise his design knowledge and hands on ability in the production and development of the projects coming through MAKLab.
Fiona ScottMake Works + Research
Fiona arranges and develops the workshops that happen in MAKLab, and is also developing a makers directory called Make/Works. She is an experienced Product and Service Designer, and has a wide range of interests in the design sector.

Roy ShearerWorkshop Mentor
Roy is an experienced designer and maker, who brings knowledge of Electronics, Up-Cycling and Clever Making to the team. He is also responsible for delivering a range of workshops, from Arduino programming and building, through to more software based teaching.
Brian LoudonWorkshop Mentor
Brian is an experienced product designer working in Glasgow, and contributing to MAKLab. He has worked on a huge range of product and industrial design projects. Brian is also our resident expert in Rhino and Grasshopper 3d modelling and parametric design.
