MAKLab is an open access fabrication workshop which gives anyone from young people through to communities, individual entrepreneurs and businesses, the opportunity & capability to turn their ideas and concepts into reality.

3D Scanning

A 3D Scanner can capture objects in full color with multi-laser precision. The technology captures millions of individual points by scanning an existing object and logging these surface co-ordinates digitally. This can accelerate product design by capturing complex shapes and outputting a digital model that can then be worked on using 3d modelling software.

We have 3D Scanners at MAKLab.
NextEngine HD

Scanning any object that you’d like to reproduce or change in the virtual environment.
 
Work Area:300mm Dia x 300mm high at 150-400 dpi

Output File Format: STL or DXF

Jobs: Scanning complex objects for manipulating in modelling software

Time: Simple scans take a few minutes more complex task a few hours plus processing time.

We also have a touch probe system for more precise reverse engineering of components.
